I should have known not to underestimate my last week in DC. My week started off before Monday morning actually, as I received an email from a lobbyist wanting to meet for lunch in DC on Monday. A family friend of ours had put me in contact with this guy and I was of course not turning down his offer to meet, regardless of the short notice. He invited me for lunch at the famous “Capitol Grille”. It used to be a lavish hot-spot for one-on-one meetings with members of Congress before the new lobbying rules negated that. None the less, it was certainly a nice treat to dine with a local guy from South Carolina (USC grad) and learn about his work in the city, enjoy a grand meal, and add another great contact for my future.
Throughout the summer, I have compiled a database from the ground up of over 2000 clients and prospective clients for American Business Development Group (ABDG). On Tuesday of this week, we will send out our first mail campaign in the form of a press release using this database. On Thursday, ABDG is hosting a luncheon for Senator Enzi, and I have been invited to attend. Also on Thursday, my company is throwing a happy-hour in my honor as we will be departing from the “District” this week. The weekend will be filled with KA conferences in the relaxing town of Lexington and I will depart for South Carolina on Sunday morning. It has been a fun-filled summer, but I sure am ready for a change of pace in SC as I prepare to begin law school in the fall.
