Well, the summer is coming to an end.  Just a few weeks ago the interns were picked up by the E. Fleming Mason Memorial Internship Selection Committee.  We arrived in Lexington, VA from Washington, DC and checked into the Alpha house at Washington and Lee University.  The next few days we helped with the Emerging Leaders Academy & Crusade Roundtable.  This provided us with a great opportunity to promote the E. Fleming Mason Memorial Internship Program.  We spoke to the RoundTable participants about the importance of getting experience in their related fields while they are undergrads – even if that means taking an unpaid internship.  We got to visit Lee Chapel and listen to a former Major League Soccer player’s vision of leadership, Rob Ukrop, who was a KA at Davidson College.  In addition, we helped out the community of Lexington by doing yard work for a battered woman’s shelter.

On the final day, we did a presentation in front of the ELA and RoundTable participants and told them all about our experiences at our different jobs for the summer.  The entire summer was unbelievable.

DC is a fantastic city to live and work, and the opportunities that the E. Fleming Mason Internship provides are extraordinary.  Brent, Logan, Jeff, Tim, and Myself were truly blessed to be a part of the 2009 class of KA interns. 

In the words of Logan, “In the end it is not where you are, but who you are with that matters.”  The friendships we forged this summer will last us a lifetime.  If you are able to apply to the program – DO IT, and Don’t Procrastinate.
